Directory FAQ

Frequently asked  and answers about the Creative District Directory.

Do I qualify for the directory?

All creative enterprises (including but not limited to creative services, venues, organizations that promote arts and culture, restaurants, clubs, and more!) as well as individual artists located in or regularly selling art/working/performing/organizing within the district are encouraged to register. If you live, work, or regularly participate in the creative economy of downtown Olympia you are welcome to register.

You can find a link to a map of the district HERE. The term “creative enterprises” is meant to be broad and encompassing and largely self-determined. If you are unsure whether your business or enterprise qualifies please feel free to send us an email at info@olympiacreativedistrict.org

How do I register for the directory?

You can register for the DOCD Creative Directory by filling out and submitting a form HERE. Please note our website is maintained by humans and all submissions are vetted and uploaded by an individual, we request your patience while your listing is being processed.

How do I edit or remove my directory page?

Send us an email at info@olympiacreativedistrict.org and we will make any requested changes to your listing. We will also remove your listing completely upon request.

Who manages Olympia's Creative District (the DOCD) today?

We're our own organization! While we grow funding, we are supported by close relationships with local non profits and the city. The Olympia Artspace Alliance (OAA) acts as our fiscal sponsor so we can apply for grant funding and form partnerships with other organizations. Generous INSPIRE funding from the City of Olympia helped with our launch and planning in 2025.

Does it cost money to register?

No! The creative registry is funded by the Inspire Olympia cultural access fund, meaning it is free for you to use.

Do I have to have a business license to register?

No! All artists and organizations participating in the district, regardless of legal entity status, are encouraged to register.

How long will my listing stay active in the registry?

The DOCD will reach out to all registrants annually to check in about updates or removal of unwanted listings. In addition the DOCD will hold a bi-annual registry audit to ensure that all listed businesses are still operating in downtown Olympia.

Is there conduct that might have my listing removed from the registry?

Organizations, individuals, and/or clubs participating in or promoting racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, religious intolerance and other forms of bigotry or hatred are not welcome on the DOCD registry. If the DOCD discovers this behavior by a participant their listing will be removed. If you are concerned about the conduct of a registrant please contact the DOCD directly at info@olympiacreativedistrict.org
